The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, commercially aware Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day non-clinical operations of a hospital. You will play a key role in ensuring excellent patient experience, efficient service delivery and effective operational performance.

Working closely with the CEO, clinical teams and senior management, you will lead operational services, support service development and drive continuous improvement across the hospital.

The role includes direct line management responsibilities, participation in the senior management on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily non-clinical hospital operations, including reception and front-of-house services.
  • Lead admissions planning, patient flow, bed capacity and occupancy management.
  • Promote excellent patient, family and visitor experience.
  • Manage and support operational staff, including recruitment, training and performance management.
  • Oversee health and safety, risk management and business continuity in collaboration with relevant colleagues.
  • Identify and implement service improvements, operational efficiencies and change initiatives.
  • Monitor performance, provide operational reports and support strategic planning.
  • Build effective relationships with clinical teams, consultants, staff and external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in an operational management role, ideally within healthcare, a hospital or social care setting.
  • Strong customer service and people management skills.
  • Experience of admissions, capacity or occupancy management.
  • Knowledge of CQC requirements, health and safety and operational compliance.
  • Experience supporting HR processes and managing operational change.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A commercially minded, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A relevant management or healthcare qualification, or equivalent experience, is desirable.
